Shopify Magic writes the description. It doesn't tell you which products need one.

Magic is a writer. Atlios is the thing that finds the work. Here is where each one fits, including where Magic wins.

Side by side.

Last checked July 2026. Shopify ships fast, so if something here has gone out of date, tell us.

The four differences that actually matter.

01

One is a writer. One is an auditor.

Magic fills a box you point it at. That's genuinely useful, and it's the last step of the job. The first step is knowing which of your four thousand products has a barcode missing, a description copied from another SKU, or an image nobody wrote alt text for. Magic doesn't look. Atlios does nothing but look, then hands you the drafts.

Magic is the better typist. Atlios is the only one auditing.

02

Product by product doesn't scale past a few hundred SKUs.

Opening a product, clicking the star, reading the output, saving, going back: call it ninety seconds if you're quick. On six hundred products that's fifteen hours, and you still don't know if you picked the right six hundred. Atlios stages every fix as a before and after so you approve a screenful at a time.

The bottleneck was never the writing. It was the clicking.

03

Google rejects products for reasons Shopify never mentions.

A product can look perfect in your admin and be sitting disapproved in Merchant Center for a missing GTIN or a mismatched availability field. It stays live on your store, earning nothing, and nothing in the Shopify admin tells you. Atlios checks the Google side against the Shopify side and fixes the field that caused it.

Magic can't see this. It isn't looking at Google.

04

Approval is the feature, not the friction.

Nobody sane lets an AI rewrite their catalog unsupervised. Atlios is read-only until you approve a specific list, and every draft shows you exactly what changes. That's what makes bulk safe enough to actually use in bulk.

Nothing publishes until you say so. That's the whole point.

Honestly? Use both.

Magic is included with your plan and it's decent at the one product in front of you. Keep it. Atlios is for the nine hundred products behind it that nobody has looked at in a year.

Questions, answered.

Do I have to choose?
No, and we wouldn't. Magic is already paid for and it's fine at what it does. Use it for the one-off product you're editing anyway. Use Atlios when you need to know what's wrong across the whole catalog and fix it without opening four hundred tabs.
Is Atlios a replacement for Shopify Magic?
It replaces the part where you guess. Magic answers what should this description say. Atlios answers which products need work, what's it costing me, and can I fix them all today. Different questions.
Shopify Magic is free. Why pay for anything?
Fair question. If your catalog is small enough that you already know every weak product by name, Magic plus an afternoon is the right answer and we'll tell you so. Atlios earns its money somewhere north of a few hundred SKUs, where nobody can hold the whole catalog in their head anymore.
Does Atlios need Shopify Magic to work?
No. Atlios does its own drafting, against your existing catalog and your brand glossary rather than a blank prompt. They don't interact.
Is this comparison fair?
We have tried to be. We only claim what Shopify documents publicly, we last checked in July 2026, and we have said plainly where Magic wins. If we have something wrong, tell us and we'll correct the page.
